GSE3 Novel Hybrid Seed Production System

Tech ID: 24.704

Key Features

  • Seed sorting based on size differentiation
  • Proven in rice and applicable in other seeded species
  • Tractable by mutation or editing of GSE3 alleles

Description

A collaboration between The Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology (Beijing) and the China National Rice Research Institute (Hangzhou) has developed a seed-size sorting strategy that enables fully mechanized hybrid rice breeding, and that should be readily applicable in other crop species.
