EPIPAGRI

PBL is a partner in EPIPAGRI, a European Commission supported project aiming to encourage public sector research organisations to collaborate in the management and promotion of their intellectual property assets in the field of agricultural science. PIPRA - Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture

PBL is an Affiliated Institution of PIPRA and supports PIPRA’s mission to address intellectual property issues in the public sector and promote the research, development, and distribution of agricultural technologies intended to increase food security and reduce poverty in developing countries.  PBL believes PIPRA is an organisation whose mission and services are complementary to our own.  PBL provides hands-on management of and investment in its clients' intellectual property, assuming the responsibility, cost (including patenting and marketing costs) and risk associated with management and licensing of new technology.  PIPRA acts as a resource for public sector agricultural researchers to facilitate transfer and uptake of technologies by resource poor farmers, providing IP analytical services, access to a public sector patent information clearinghouse, and connections to an international community.  PBL's public sector research organisation clients can determine individually whether to endorse PIPRA by becoming institutional members and membership in PIPRA does not in any way preclude a research institution from securing PBL’s IP management services.  PIPRA has created a virtual IP clearinghouse in the form of a database of non-confidential information from its member institutions.  PBL will always obtain authorisation from its partner research organisations prior to the submission of such non-confidential IP information to the PIPRA database.
